How to Open Advanced System Settings on Windows
Performance, virtual memory, system protection and more in one place (sysdm.cpl).
This screen brings together several technical settings that don't appear in the normal Settings menu: performance, environment variables, system protection, virtual memory.
How to open it
Search for "View advanced system settings" in the Windows search
box, or: Windows + R → sysdm.cpl → Enter.
What you'll find in each tab
- Computer Name: changing the name your PC shows up with on the network.
- Advanced: performance (visual effects), virtual memory, user profiles, startup and recovery.
- System Protection: turning restore points on or off.
- Remote: Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop settings.
Tip: this is the fastest route to reach several scattered technical settings that you'd otherwise have to look up separately in different parts of Settings.
