Difference Between Quality and Feature Updates on Windows
Which ones to install as soon as possible and which ones you can safely postpone.
Windows Update rolls out two quite different types of update, though the notice you see on screen doesn't always make that clear.

Quality updates
These are the monthly cumulative updates — they fix security flaws and system bugs, without adding new visible features. They arrive without any special notice, as part of routine maintenance.
Feature updates
These bring more noticeable changes: a new design for some part of Windows, features that didn't exist before, deeper performance improvements. They're released much less often — until recently, once or twice a year.
Tip: quality updates are worth installing as soon as possible, because of their security component. For feature updates, if you'd rather wait for them to settle down after release (reasonable, since they tend to bring more changes at once), Windows lets you postpone them for several months from Settings → Windows Update → Advanced options.
Note: Windows doesn't always use these exact names on screen — sometimes you'll just see the update's KB number without specifying the type. If it has the format "202X-XX", it's usually a quality update; if the name mentions a new Windows version (like "24H2"), it's a feature update.

Do feature updates delete my files?
