Windows Doesn't Detect a Bluetooth Device: What to Do
How to tell apart an adapter problem from one specific to a particular device.
If Windows can't find any Bluetooth device at all (not just one specific one), the problem is usually with the adapter or its driver.
- Confirm Bluetooth is turned on in Settings → Bluetooth & devices.
- Device Manager → look for "Bluetooth" → if you see a warning icon, right-click → "Update driver".
- Restart the machine after updating.
If the adapter doesn't even show up in Device Manager
It may be disabled at the hardware level — some laptops have a physical key or combination (often with the Fn key) to turn Bluetooth on or off completely, independent of the software settings.
